HI all
I just wondered if it is possible for someone to develop on their own to see and hear spirit?
I am pretty spiritually attuned, but cannot actually communicate with "Spirit".
I can hear/feel my guides and angels and I just wondered why it stops at that.
I suppose I would be a little bit frightened if a spirit person walked in front of me, but wouldn't we all - does this block my development at all?
It would be great if anyone could shed some light on this.
Many thanks.

I believe that some people actually harbour the ability to communicate with spirit, we all know of young children that have invisible friends in some cases i believe these friends to be real rather than imaginary, most parents tell the child not to be silly theres no such thing etc, the child then becomes reluctant and starts to put up a barrier to these early experiances, as we get older we become more predujiced in our beliefs and the barriers go up, a true natural spiritual ability will eventually come out when the time is right for it to be developed, so as for being frightened of any spiritual experiance i believe the fear goes with knowledge you dont fear something you understand when you begin to understand the fear goes leaving you open to develop.
Best Wishes Big C.

Hi Big C
That makes a lot of sense - perhaps I don't know enough about spirit to let any barriers down.
I know that both my Mam and Dad have both seen spirit and are spiritually attuned, so hopefully I will too.
Thanks for your help Big C.

hi joy I developed mostley on my own in open circles so I know its possible, the trick is to have the confidence to speak up and say what you are getting no matter how small. The other is to be open to what you are recieving in the beginning and to realise this is coming from a outside person and not yourself. In the beginning the spirit people may only influence you in a very gentle way and this may be passed off as say a small pain in the chest that you think is your own when really it belongs to someone else. Although I have been aware of spirit for years I had to learn to talk to them and the more aware you become the more to attune to.You most likely have had communication but have not connected it to an outside person, people think it has to be a booming voice or its not the real thing thats rubbish spirit influence in so many wonderful ways we just have to open our minds and eyes.

Hi Golden1
Thanks for that - you are more than likely right too.
I do trust what I receive, I suppose you do expect communication to be some big booming voice like you say lol, perhaps I should look a little bit more at what I experience!

Totally agree with golden1 having the confidence to speak up and give what you get is very important. What seems nonsense to the person giving the message can be very relevant to the person recieving it. During open circle meetings ive witnessed some good information given by developing mediums when the floor has been thrown open at the end of the platform session.

Hi Lorna Yes at spiritulist churches but check as they also hold awareness classes, healing, development circles, most have an advert in the local paper under church notices informing when the service is held and also the attending medium, most churches round here do, or you could check your local snu church through their website. www.snu.org.uk Best wishes Big C.

Hi Mells
Not to my knowledge, they do have an open circle, but if you are thinking about going into mediumship or perhaps developing, then I think that a development class is the best bet.
Eventually I think that is what I will do - for myself, I feel I have a lot of ground work to cover first, because without the correct foundations, the mediumship, for me, will not work. Also, finding the still spot during meditation is harder than it sounds, so if I can at least do that and connect with my guides, then I'm on a winner. I do know there is a lot of work and dedication involved in mediumship, so its not a decision to be taken lightly.
I want to learn about the basics, such as psychic protection and connecting with my higher self first, rather than cutting all of that out and just going straight to a development class.
Its just my preference, of course, I'm sure many people have joined the class without having prior knowledge and have been fine. Click on the link that Big C put in an earlier post and you will find the number for Middlesbrough Spiritualist church - they will be able to give you more information.
Hope this helps Mells, but if not, get back to me.
Also, if you own a Tarot deck, one of the best things you can do to attune yourself is sit with one of your cards and without the aid of your books, write down any thoughts that come to you - it doesn't matter what they are. Then afterwards, check against any books or info on the internet and see how accurate you were. This is how I first started - also I learned a lot about chakras and meditation, again, for me, this all helps.
