Another type of ghost ive been researching at the present time are battlefield ghosts, i was reading an account of a group of 51st highlanders holed up in a wood just outside dunkirk, it was an important position to hold and the company was showing great bravery holding out against german snipers. At night fall the sergeant major told his superior officer he believed the woods to be haunted, the whole company had become aware of a presence that made them nervous and they were aware of also losing their morale something unheard of in this regiment. All the soldiers felt this presence described as a force pushing them away, and they all agreed it was a force they couldnt fight. The company eventually dropped back leaving the wood, as soon as they were clear they regained their determination and morale. After the war the sergeant major returned to the wood, but before he did he did some research, he found in 1415 just before the battle of agincourt english soldiers had fought the french in that wood, had the spirits of the slain soldiers somehow returned to haunt their successors over 5oo years later? could the area be impregnated with an aura of death, that the highlanders began to sense after a few days exposure to it? is it possible that the psychic force has lain dormant for 5 centuries to manifest due to being stimulated by fresh violence? There are many battlefields said to be haunted, can the residual energy keep replaying over and over and due to the isolated locations a lot of activity goes unreported? Reasons for hauntings tend to be a persons spirit or image is fixed there for some reason such as great unhappiness was experianced in the spot, or some emotional attatchment, or some form of violence. This being the case a battlefield would hold all of the above with numerous other emotions, all the expended energy would be impressed on the site and would be picked up on by psychic awareness or an emotional state that would make us more open to our sensitivity, there are many such sites that exsist, i feel doing research on such sites while not investigated like known haunted locations could provide some positive response.
